Meet Pastor Rod. We’d like to tell you a little about his background and ministry.
Rod Holmes is married to Nerida and they have three adult children. Rod grew up in Western Australia in the Mullewa area on a wheat and sheep farm, and he boarded in Geraldton for secondary school.
Nerida is a ‘hills girl,’ having been raised in Darlington. They met through their involvement in university Christian groups at their respective campuses.
Rod and Nerida both trained as school teachers and, after three years in rural WA, went to serve in Bolivia, South America, in a mission school. After returning to Perth, Rod had a strong call to equip the church as a pastor, and Nerida eventually trained to be a counsellor.
They have lived and served in central Australia, the wheatbelt of WA, the Perth hills, and in the Perth suburbs. Rod and Nerida came to Beaumaris Community Baptist Church in May 2021 after a four year stint in Alice Springs.
Rod is a Bible teacher who loves to see people grow in their understanding of how the Bible is for every area of life, for every stage of life, and for all ‘tribes, tongues, nations and people.’ His key focus is helping God’s people fully understand the nature of the gospel and how the new covenant through the blood of Christ transforms everything.
I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.
